Exhibition inspired by Konrad Mägi

The collective painting of the artists at the tenth birthday party of the Ice Age Center by Lake Saadjärvi took the form of an exhibition in the center's conference hall.

The artists celebrated Konrad Mäe's former activity by Saadjärvi with a large collective painting on the theme "If Konrad Mägi would paint Lake Saadjärv after 100 years" and a stand was opened that marks the place where he painted.

On two days, artists Jaanus Eensalu, Eero Ijavoinen, Rasmus Karja, Tuuli Puhvel, Jane Remm, Karin Strohm, Hando Tamm, Enn Tegova and Kristina Viin and several guests of the Ice Age Center painted.

In total, nearly 20 works were completed, of which 11 made it to the exhibition. Almost all of them depict Saadjärvi and Äksi Church, just like Konrad Mäe's painting created nearly 100 years ago.

Kukulinna Manor, located near the Ice Age Centre, by Lake Saadjärvi, was already a place of work and rest for artists a hundred years ago, so the painting exhibition is complemented by a photo recollection from a hundred years ago. The photos show the guests at the time Nikolai Triik, Voldemar Mellik, Aleksander Tassa, etc.

Most of the photos come from the photo collection of the Estonian Art Museum. The original black and white and faded photos were processed and colored by Rasmus Karja (Ekes OÜ), an artist researching the history of the Äksi parish.

The exhibition is open to guests of the Ice Age Center until October.
