We are open from 11:00 to 23:00 as part of the nationwide Museum Night.
From 11:00–18:00, the regular ticket price (8–12 €) applies, and from 18:00–23:00, the special Museum Night ticket is 1 €.

Themed tour “Sounds of the Mammoth”

Takes place at 18:30, 19:30, and 20:30.
On this tour, we explore what kinds of sounds Ice Age animals may have made and how they communicated. We will try out different animal sounds and imagine what the soundscape of the Ice Age might have been like.

Raft rides on Lake Saadjärv

Depart every full hour (ticket 5 € / person).
The evening lake offers a different kind of experience – a calmer and quieter environment where the sounds of nature become more noticeable.

Next to the Centre is the Finnish Boys’ Room Museum, where the Äksi Book Club will host an open discussion at 19:00 about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince. All book lovers are welcome!

The café is open throughout the evening.

The building is easily accessible, with ramps and a lift for comfortable movement with strollers or wheelchairs. Visitors can use an audio guide, and many exhibits are hands-on and interactive. You are also welcome to visit with your pet.

You can reach us conveniently by public transport – a bus from Tartu stops at Äksi Keskus. For those arriving by car, there is a large free parking area and an electric vehicle charging point.

Located on the shores of Lake Saadjärv, the Ice Age Centre is an interactive experience centre where you can discover the story of the Ice Age, nature, and climate through engaging exhibitions and themed tours.

During Museum Night, we focus on sounds and voices that have shaped nature and our understanding of the world.
Throughout the evening, you can listen to stories and reflect on which sounds have survived through time and which have disappeared. The programme is designed for families and anyone who wants to spend a meaningful evening exploring and discovering.
