🌱 New Permanent Exhibition “Renewable Energy Pushes Boundaries” Opened at the Ice Age Centre

Ice Age Centre opened its new permanent exhibition “Renewable Energy Pushes Boundaries”, taking visitors on a journey through the world of energy – from the past to the future. The exhibition focuses on the opportunities of renewable energy, its environmental impacts, and technological developments.

The opening was attended by representatives from the fields of education and science, renewable energy experts, exhibition creators, and partners. The event was opened by Sigrid Sepp, director of the Ice Age Centre, who highlighted that this is the largest upgrade to the Centre’s permanent exhibition in its history:

“A new, engaging hands-on experience was created for a topic that previously had only a minimal presence in our exhibition – renewable energy. Here, visitors can explore and test different uses of renewable energy through interactive activities. At the same time, we don't shy away from showing the challenges – we openly discuss why the world hasn't yet fully transitioned to renewable energy sources.”

The interactive exhibition introduces how solar, wind, water, and bioenergy work and offers engaging content for both young visitors and environmentally conscious adults. Guests can try out energy production, compare the efficiency of different energy sources, and understand their role in combating climate change.

Kaupo Mets, project manager of the exhibition, added:

“We wanted to create an environment where visitors feel they truly have the power to make a difference. Renewable energy is no longer the distant future – it’s already around us today.”

The permanent exhibition was developed in cooperation with Tartu Municipality Government and the Tartu Region Energy Agency, and was funded by the State Shared Service Centre under the programme “Attractive Regional Business and Living Environment”.
