Celebrate Polar Bear Day with Polar Captain Jaanus Hannes!
Although International Polar Bear Day is officially on February 27th, we invite you to the Ice Age Centre on March 9th at 13:00 to dive into the fascinating world of polar regions!
🔹 Special Guest: Polar Captain Jaanus Hannes
Jaanus Hannes is an experienced sea captain who has worked as a chief officer in both the Arctic and Antarctic. He has participated in numerous expeditions and will share his extraordinary experiences navigating the polar seas.
Event Schedule:
🕐 13:00 – Discussion with Jaanus Hannes (3rd floor). Hear about his thrilling adventures in icy waters and learn how climate change is affecting polar bears.
📸 Photos & Videos – We will showcase Jaanus Hannes’ stunning footage from Antarctica.
🔹 Newly opened exhibition about Anatoli Norman, the first Estonian to overwinter in Antarctica.
🏛 10:00–17:00 – Explore the Ice Age Centre! Discover various exhibitions and listen to an audio guide in four languages on your own device.
☕ 11:00–16:00 – Ice Bear Café open for delicious treats.
This event is organized in cooperation with the Polar Club, which brings together researchers and enthusiasts of polar regions.
