Vanavanemate päev Jääaja Keskuses – 14. september
Vanavanemate päev on Eestis ametlik tähtpäev, mida tähistatakse septembri teisel pühapäeval. See on perekeskne päev, mil väärtustatakse põlvkondade sidet ja tunnustatakse vanavanemate rolli ühiskonnas.
Arheoloogid ja teadlased on välja toonud, et just kiviajal toimus inimühiskonnas üks suur arenguhüpe, kui eluiga pikenes ja vanavanematel tekkis võimalus anda teadmisi edasi lapselastele. See muutis kogukondi oluliselt – teadmised, oskused ja lood said edasi kanduda juba kolme põlvkonna vahel. Vanavanemad olid need, kes andsid edasi kogemusi, hoidsid pärimusi ja aitasid noorematel põlvkondadel maailmast paremini aru saada.
14.septembril tähistame Jääaja Keskuses vanavanemate päeva. Sel päeval pakume kõigile külastajatele tasuta parvesõitu Saadjärvel. Päeva jooksul toimub kolm väljasõitu, kuhu on vajalik eelregistreerimine: info@jaaaeg.ee / 5911 3318

Grandparents’ Day at the Ice Age Centre – 14 September
Grandparents’ Day is an official day of celebration in Estonia, held on the second Sunday of September. It is a family-centred day that values intergenerational connections and honours the role of grandparents in society.
Archaeologists and researchers have pointed out that one of the greatest leaps in human development occurred in the Stone Age, when life expectancy increased and grandparents had the chance to pass on their knowledge to grandchildren. This profoundly changed communities – knowledge, skills, and stories were now carried across three generations. Grandparents became those who shared experiences, preserved traditions, and helped younger generations to better understand the world.
On 14 September, we are celebrating Grandparents’ Day at the Ice Age Centre. On this special day, we offer free boat trips on Lake Saadjärv for all visitors. Three trips will take place during the day, and pre-registration is required: info@jaaaeg.ee / +372 5911 3318.
